2. Using the App
You may use RiverCall for lawful, personal, non-commercial purposes in accordance with these Terms and applicable law.
You agree not to:
- use the app unlawfully or in a way that infringes another person’s rights;
- attempt to disrupt, damage, or gain unauthorised access to the app or its backend infrastructure;
- interfere with the app’s operation or misuse any service or data source;
- misrepresent information obtained from the app as official, guaranteed, or professionally verified advice.
3. River Information Is Provided for General Guidance
RiverCall displays river levels, water measurements, descriptions, locations, difficulty grades, and calibration thresholds obtained from third-party sources, including the Rivermap API.
Information may be delayed, incomplete, inaccurate, or different from real-time conditions at the river. Measurements and water levels change rapidly. RiverCall does not guarantee that information is current, complete, accurate, or suitable for a particular trip.
Always verify important information with official local hydrological services and assess actual conditions before entering a river.
4. Water Safety and Personal Responsibility
RiverCall is an information tool, not a safety system. It does not replace your own judgement, paddling skills, local knowledge, professional instruction, official warnings, or advice from qualified guides.
Whitewater kayaking, canoeing, rafting, and other river activities involve inherent risks, including serious injury, drowning, and death. River conditions change quickly and may differ substantially from information displayed in the app.
Before any activity, you are responsible for:
- assessing water levels, weather, flow rates, obstacles, access, and escape options;
- choosing a river section and difficulty level appropriate to your skills, equipment, and group;
- checking local river closures, restrictions, and official warnings;
- carrying suitable safety equipment and knowing how to use it;
- deciding whether to proceed, alter plans, or cancel.
Do not rely on RiverCall as your sole source of information for safety-critical decisions. If conditions are uncertain, do not proceed until you have verified them on-site.
5. Location and Device Features
If you enable location access, RiverCall may use your device’s location to display relevant map information. You can manage location permissions in your device settings at any time.
See the RiverCall Privacy Policy for details on how location data is handled.
6. Third-Party Services and Content
RiverCall relies on third-party services, libraries, map data, map tiles, and information sources (such as OpenStreetMap, OpenFreeMap, MapLibre, and Rivermap). These services are subject to their own terms and privacy policies.
Data and map attribution details are available in the app under Partners & Sources.
7. Availability, Changes, and Discontinuation
We may update, change, suspend, or discontinue features or parts of RiverCall for maintenance, security, technical reasons, or changes to underlying third-party data providers.
8. Intellectual Property and Open-Source Software
Unless otherwise stated, RiverCall branding and original app content are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws.
RiverCall includes open-source software. Third-party software notices and licences are available in the app under Open-Source Licences or at https://rivercall.info/opensourcelicences.
9. Disclaimer of Warranties
To the extent permitted by applicable law, RiverCall is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis, without guarantees that it will be error-free, continuously available, or suitable for a particular purpose.
10. Limitation of Liability
To the extent permitted by applicable law, the operator of RiverCall is not liable for any direct, indirect, or consequential loss or injury arising from the use of, or inability to use, the app, or from reliance on information displayed in it.
11. Privacy
Use of RiverCall is subject to the RiverCall Privacy Policy.
12. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Updated versions will be published at https://rivercall.info/termsofuse showing the effective date.
13. Governing Law and Disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Czech Republic, except where mandatory consumer-protection laws of your country of residence provide otherwise.
